A small scoop cut by hand, its shape taken from a leaf. I drew the curve of the handle slowly, thinking through all the ways a hand moves.
A chashi (茶匙) for matcha, a spoon for spices, or nothing in particular — just something to keep within reach. The leaf follows the grain and figure of the wood, so it comes out different every time. Rather like us.
About 0.8 × 15 × 1.5 cm. Korean birch. Oil.
As each piece is carved by hand, dimensions may vary. Slight differences in colour and form are the character of each individual wood.
