I wanted to make something both the eight-year-old and the eighty-year-old in me would want. No glue anywhere — just a single block of wood, carved down until there was almost nothing left of it.
It holds what a paper plane holds: the flutter before the throw, and the afternoon it belonged to. Hang it on a thread and you’ll find yourself looking up at it for a long time.
About 8 × 9 × 4 cm. Korean birch, cherry and others (one species per piece). Oil.
As each piece is carved by hand, dimensions may vary. Slight differences in colour and form are the character of each individual wood.
